On July 12th, 2022, ANTENA held the First National Conference on the Internationalisation of Philippine Higher Education, which took place along with the signing of the Letter of Cooperation of the Philippine Internationalisation Network (PHL IN-NET) in Baguio City (Philippines).

The National Conference focused on the role of In-Net in the internationalisation of HEI in the Philippines and it aimed to enhance the visibility of the Network at a national level. Moreover, the specific objectives of this conference were to:

  • Highlight the benefits of being part of the In-Net;
  • Attract members who contribute and benefit from the In-Net objectives;
  • Promote dialogue on the internationalisation of higher education at the national level;
  • Encourage policy formulation and funding.

The conference involved ANTENA partners, the Presidents and Vice-Chancellors of the main higher education institutions in the Philippines, and especially with the presence of directors and part of the team from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), International Affairs Office.

3 European partners participated actively: University of Alicante (UA) from Spain, University of Montpellier (UM) from France, and EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), from Belgium.

This event was open to the public via Zoom to contribute to visibility at national level. The conference gave room for speakers to provide a background on what the PHL IN-NET is, discuss the benefits of network membership and attract possible members in the future, as well as to promote dialogue on the internationalisation of higher education at national level and encourage contributions to higher education policy formulation in the field of internationalisation.
